As a member of staff you are supplied with a PC on joining. Normally this will be a standard Windows PC; an Apple Mac will only be provided with a strong justification from your Head of Department.
Staff PCs will be supplied with a standard software build plus any departmental specific software required. Further software may be provided with justification.
Any special requirements for the specification of the PC software should be communicated to ICT Services via the Service Desk
Additionally there are PCs located in University provided Open Access PC Studios in various locations across the City and North campuses. These are open for drop-in use when they are not booked for classes during normal working hours. Some open for extended hours with a few available on Saturdays but none are open overnight. Most Open Access PC Studio computers run Windows-based services but there also some Apple Mac Studios.
PCs are also available in most libraries libraries
You may also use your own or University provided PC using the Wireless Access Wi Fi spots again located at various places across both campuses. Look for the metNet purple diamond sign.
Staff with a portable PC for their sole use should ensure that it is configured to use the EduRoam service in preference to metNet as it is more secure as the wireless connection is encrypted and allows connection to the internet at other participating universities. However PCs used by more than one person should not be configured to use EduRoam. Learn more about Wireless services and EduRoam.
You can connect via the internet using any PC from anywhere in the world and browse to www.londonmet.ac.uk. Note much of the LondonMet intranet (Metranet) is externally visible but accessing many of its links will require you to login.
