The Diabetes UK internship scheme is open to anyone who is willing to commit to a 12-week volunteer placement who would like to get experience of working in the charity sector.
The internship scheme was first run in 2009. The internships are voluntary but travel and lunch expenses will be reimbursed. Interns generally work between three and five days a week with flexible hours.
All placements are project-based with a clearly defined role. Most of the internship placements consist of unique pieces of work with a specified output at the end of the placement – for example you could be:
* creating and producing materials
* planning events
* co-ordinating internal and external communications
* reviewing the way they work
