Government Economic Service (GES) Summer Placement Scherme 2011

The opening date for applications for the GES Summer Placement Scheme is Monday 17 January and the closing date for receipt of applications is Friday 21 January 2011. However, the scheme will close before the closing date when a sufficient number of applications have been received and this will be notified on the GES website – it is therefore in your interest to submit your application as soon as possible after the opening date.

The placements will commence in summer 2011 and last for 6-12 weeks.

To be eligible you must be:

*  A UK National, Commonwealth citizen or a member of the European Economic Area (EEA) and

*  Studying for a degree in economics or, if a joint degree, economics must comprise at least 50% of the total course, or doing a Masters in Economics.

Applications will only be considered on the standard application form available on the website.

In sifting the applications to decide which candidates to invite for interview, particular weight will be given to the sections on competencies, extra-curricular activities and career choice.

Candidates who are successful at the sifting stage are likely to be invited for interview in February/March 2011.
