GOVERNMENT SOCIAL RESEARCH SERVICE: 6-12 WEEK SUMMER STUDENT PLACEMENTS 2016

The Government Social Research Service (GSR) is running a scheme of summer student placements in 2016 for students undertaking a social science degree with a substantial social research component*. Applicants should be on course for, or have recently attained, a 2:1 or 1st class degree.

The scheme is not open to first year undergraduates or to second year undergraduates at Scottish universities. Students who are graduating this summer will only be eligible if they are going on to do a further degree in the autumn.

The placements will last for 6-12 weeks and will be paid: all details, including the application form with details of participating Departments, application guidance and job descriptions, are on their website

The opening date for receipt of applications is Thursday 18 February at 10.00am.  Applications received before that time will not be accepted.

The scheme will close as soon as we receive sufficient applications. It is therefore in all students’ interests to submit their applications as soon as possible after the opening date/time.

Students who are invited to interview will be required to provide a reference from their tutor confirming their suitability for a placement.
