A rare event in the age of digital photography; last week an student borrowed some 35mm slides from the Library’s collection of c.80,000 art and design images. The borrower’s intention was to project the images to a large scale and trace the outlines as a basis for a painting.
This novel use of the collection is an excuse for me to promote a lo-tech but still relevant resource. It has been the mainstay of art and design lectures at Sir John Cass for nearly 30 years and reflects the specialisms of academics over that period.
The slide collection covers a huge range of subjects from natural history to contemporary art. Projectors may be booked in advance from the ITC Helpdesk.
