‘Reel to Real’ archival sound project

A new online ethnomusicology and sound archive from the Pitt Rivers Museum, University of Oxford.

The recordings range from the songs of Himalayan women to those of Gaelic children.

The Real to Real website includes a wealth of background information, for example the methods used to digitise heritage audio formats such as wax cylinders, reel to reel tapes and audio cassettes.
