Beautiful Libraries – ARCLIB Conference 2014

ARCLIB conference
ARCLIB 2014 ‘Crits” by Sylvia Harris, Cardiff University and Rt.Rev. Geoffrey Scott, OSB (Abbot of Douai Abbey)

Architecture and History of Art Library, Queens’ College, Cambridge were our generous hosts this year for ARCLIB 2014.

ARCLIB Architecture Librarians Group is a great opportunity to network with national and international architecture library colleagues and catch up on trends and new ideas. All the speakers were from the wealth of Cambridge academia with generous and inspiring talks on “Beautiful Libraries” including tours of them.

Including a presentation from Bryony Ramsden on What are Libraries For?

Librarians were asked to participate in a group exercise to design a library. There were three “Commissions” and the crits in the library were very thorough. We are pleased to announce that London Metropolitan University won first prize £150 worth of Cambridge University Press books for new architecture books for The Cass, with our new design for Glasgow School of Art Library.

ARCLIB Newsletter with a review of Daphne Chalk-Birdsall’s TeachMeet presentation on alternative technologies and how social media can support student experience. Please see page 10.
