UK Hague Agreement for Industrial Designs and EU Trade Mark regulation 2016

European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO)

Regulation (EU) No 2015/2424 of the European Parliament and the Council amending the Community trade mark regulation has been published in the Official Journal of the European Union. The Amending Regulation will enter into force on 23 March 2016. From that day, the Office will be called the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the Community trade mark will be called the European Union trade mark.

From the report

“The UK has recently signed up to the DesignView database hosted by Office of Harmonisation of Internal Markets (OHIM). This means that UK users are now able to access centralised data from all EU national offices, OHIM and WIPO to search for all registered designs that have protection in the UK. Access to this database should alleviate concerns around the scope of the search tools on the IPO’s website and will allow business to use one tool to search for relevant designs, simplifying the procedure and saving them time and money.”

Design fees consultation report ends 29th January 2016
