If you are in or nearby Leeds next week, there is a free event showcasing the collections of art libraries in the city. Showcasing Leeds Art Libraries: Stories from the Collection is on Tuesday the 17th of April from 14:00 – 15:30 at The Tetley, Hunslet Road.
The event includes talks from representatives of The Henry Moore Institute, Leeds Central Art Library, Leeds Art University and Leeds Beckett University talking about some of the most interesting items from their collections, and you can register here.
The event ends with a tour of the current exhibition at the Tetley, The House That Heals The Soul, which is both an exhibition and a functioning studio, and focuses on the political and social status of libraries. The tour will be led by curator and artist Nick Thurston.
The exhibition continues until April 22nd, and includes workshops to help visitors learn the processes and tools that go in to making small-run and DIY publications. See here and here for further details as the workshops only happen on certain dates.
